omgomgomg...
motorcycle neighbor guy woke me up!

in my misty state of mind at 1:39 pm in the afternoon, I woke up to a clear KNOCK KNOCK on the door. My eyes are still shut...thinking to myself "should I get it? should I get it? I'm sooooo tired.." then I realized that if I don't get up and answer the door, It could be UPS and I might miss an important package.

Immediately I jumped out of bed and scurried all the way to the door, and then just before I opened the door, I thought briefly it could be the crazy schizo lady that walks around keene barefoot. (Last time she knocked on our door and asked, "Is your mommy home?" and I had no idea how to respond to that so I just shook my head "no..." and she looked at me strangely and asked, "do you speak english?..." LOL and i was just like "WTF" in my head and then she was like "nooo huh?" and she scooted on out of there. lol i probably looked like a mexican boy) Anyways... so i proceeded to open the door with caution and allow only an outlet of no more than 4 inches to open... and to my surprise and even more so to my demise... IS THE MOTORCYCLE NEIGHBOR!

And It looked like he was posing on the wall or something. LOL. anyways I was like... wtfreak.. i'm basically in my loungewear..im practically naked...my hair is seriously all over the place... and i am barely awake... and there he is in his torn jeans and white shirt posing on the wall looking all hard.... i open the door and I don't even say anything... he was just like, "OHH...sorry I didn't mean to wake you up." and the sun is fiercely constricting my pupils and all the speech I can form at the moment are sounds like "huuhhhhh uh hhuhhh" he was just like, "oh i was just wondering if you wanted to learn how to ride... " and immediately im more awake and just said, "ohh..NOT NOW while looking at the beating sun..and.. umm i don't think i can. i kind of promised my friends not to learn to ride cuz it's so dangerous..." and he was just like "ohh... well if you ever want to try...just go upstairs and knock on my door" and I was jsut like, "yeah.. I'll let you know.." cuz in my head, im thinking of my other friend who may want to learn how to ride. I was kinda flusttered and so i said, "OH man. i thought you were the mailman..." and then he was like, "what? ohh.. yeah why are you still sleeping? it's like 1 in the afternoon." and in my head i'm like "O. M. G. crap" but in real life I was jsut like, "ohh i sleep really late..."

iono how the conversation shortly ended after that, I was kind of falling asleep but basically if I wanted to learn how to ride, I just go upstairs.

this incident brings up an important point, my friends keep trying to stress to me. ---->
What are some guys' intentions?

-when they randomly talk to you

-when they randomly call you
-when they invite you to things

-etc.

As girls trying not to give the wrong idea, what are we suppose to do? How do we respond?

I never really thought about this stuff ever. I guess that's how I get into so much trouble later on. I am always open and friendly but that can also be an invitation to DANGERR. I don't think motorcycle neighbor is dangerous though. I honestly think he is being nice and helping a sistah outtt but then again, but what are his real intentions? Those thoughts linger in my head as they are being strongly enforced by friends especially after this whole -Fourteen year old- incident. I'll explain in my next blog.

Apart of me wants to switch blogging to blogger or wordpress... unfortunately, xanga has always been my precious and it's too hard to quit. it's too legit. Maybe when I get more famous (haha) I will start a wordpress.

Anyways, I've been MIA this summer for many many reasons. I just couldn't dedicate time to keeping a blog but NOW I can't leave all my memories passing by...
this summer has been very productive and eventful.

This year is suppose to be THE ULTIMATE YEAR (meaning school year but im not in school).
so far, i was able to accomplish some pretty awesome things in my bucket list.

-attend an opera
-go horsebackriding
-attend anime convention (cosplayed)
-get corn rows
-make music video (ooO yes)
-watch video games live performance (FINAL FANTASY!)

Things to look forward to this year
- The Valley w/ Jing
- New York (maybe!)
- California
- Dominican Republic Mission Trip

Today, i watched the Time Travelers Wife with the girls. That movie made me really sad.
I also like the book. I can finally read for fun again! sigh...
My next book to read is THE COLLECTED TALES by NIKOLAI GOGOL.

Today I spoke to my neighbor who lives upstairs. He owns a Honda 1100cc bike and he asked if he could park it in front of our door underneath the stairway. I said it was fine. ACTUALLY, i was like, "NO!" and then I realized oh wait this guy doesn't know my personality... and I was like, "ohh im jk.. yeah sure" Then we had a conversation about motorcycles and I told him how I've always wanted an M1 license but one of my friends died from a motorcycle accident, I didn't want to get one anymore. I'm too scared. But then he said if I ever wanted to learn how to ride the bike, he would teach me.
BUT IM NOT ALLOWED TO.

OH and then today while we were waiting outside the Burleson movie theater... Jing, Evanette, and I were playing with the camera (documenting our lives like we always do) and while Jing and Evanette ran off somewhere,
this fifteen year old looking kid just goes, "Ohh..I bet they take a lot of pictures..." and I was just like "OH NO... why are you talking to me like that? FIFTEEN YEAR OLD GO AWAY!" well i didn't say that outloud but I was definitely thinking it. Instead I followed the advice of my friends after I got into that whole incident with a fourteen year old (featured in next blog) and I just nodded and kept quiet. BUT THEN... he was like "Ohh.. so what movie are you watching today?" And i was like... "ohh.. Time Travelers Wife" and the kid was like, "OHHHH.. yeahhh MEE TOO! I'm sure you can't believe it... a guy like me without a girlfriend watching Time Travelers wife all alone.." and i was just O___O omg. OKAY LITTLE KID. I'M TWENTY THREE FREAKING YEARS OLD. why do i keep attracting these little kids?!
instead i just nodded and smiled and turned away. :) like a good girl.
and then Jing and evanette rushed back and he talked some more to them.

Anyways, LIFE is a highway... i wanna ride it all night long.

One phrase to describe Jenelyn:
vertically challenged! j/k Yeah,
that's mean considering I'm 6'1".
Like I said during her induction into
NHS, Jenelyn may be small, but she has
big ambitions. I don't know how I
first met Jenelyn. She was a loyal
member of SWAT. I also worked with
her in SA (one of the best PR people
ever!) Chorale was awesome. I
remember Knippy would scare her during
rehearsals. Jenelyn is a great
person, and if you don't think so,
you'd better watch your back! (See
Jenelyn, I've got you covered. Haha!)

friend she always there to offer

- Jen and I are the youngest cousins of
  our family and Im happy to state that she
  and I will add the variety in the
  seemingly nurse-dominated careers of
  our family. Jen is really good with
  envisioning an image and realizing that
  vision into a sketch book. She's the
  artsy type with the science and
  mathematical kick, a family trait. ^_^
  Even though we have a lot in common, it
  is our contrast that makes us truly
  indispensable. Her outward enthusiasm
  for cars and motorbikes and computers
  are unparalleled compare to my lack of
  interest for those things but whenever I
  need help in any technological detriment
  or advice, she's the first person I call. I
  call her for the things that I barely know
  about that I know she knows about and
  vice-a-versa. Jen also tends to
  underestimate herself at times but what
  she doesn't realize is that although she's
  a 'short' person, she has a powerful
  presence. Ewww, Lord of the Rings! lol

- heard so many good things about you. like being an aspiring physicist and mathematician. a scientist but the same time still a christian. i remember back when you came here to the philippines that you liked the simpsons. don't know if you still do and don't know if the simpsons are still on air. don't get to watch it much anymore...no...make that never since about two years ago. knows how to play basketball. we went to the court once to shoot some hoops and there were these two unknown local guys that were cheering for her (but not that loud thought); it was night time then. hehe. hope we could talk again sometime about science stuff. i think you one of our family members na maintindihan ang mga inaaral ko sa school. keep digging into those books and God bless.

My cousin is so wonderful. My mom died
Christmas Eve and during Jen's
vacation, she spent so much time at my
house. She stayed in bed , on the
computer doing the slide show for the
funeral, for two days...only getting up
to poo, pee and eat. That's
dedication. So..thank you much Liit
(small one in Tagalog). Love you much!

describe her? A bush lover? i would

I first met Jenelyn @ Bible Camp in CCF
about 2 or 3 years ago. I remember we
were standing outside the cafe waiting
for it to open. I met her, Kristina,
and Mark. That weekend was suckin
butt, then I met da 3 of them, and
everything got better. We all started
talkin and it turned out that they were
friends with one of my friends. So,
yea. We had lotsa fun that day, but
then we had to go our separate ways.
We saw each other once in a while. BUt
really never really got to bond. But
recently, Jenelyn came here to Texas
with her varsity basketball team. She
was the first person I saw and
greeted. Jenelyn, you're an awesome
person. Hella guys jock you, and
there's no surprise why. You're an
intelligent, smart, not to mention
charming, funny, and according to the
guys "hella cute", person. I'm glad
to have a friend like you and I hope we
could chill more when I get home. And

I think i can do it. Blog for 10 days? I just get so lazy but now that I said it, I have to do it.
Today I scribed for Dr. P. This is what I learned today:

THE NICER YOU ARE, THE CRAPPIER YOUR LIFE WILL GET.

- This is true in the cases of the Doctors that work in the ED. Today, I had a patient that had an O2 sat of 90% when he came into the hospital, after his examination and while waiting for several tests to be complete, his O2 sat was around 50%. That is extremely hypoxic. He was a very kind, gentle looking old man with a very nice wife. He was a very cooperative patient. He would even stress to the nurse to inform the Doctor that he is taking his medications as directed in time. No complaints other than his problem...
He came in because whenever he laid down, he felt as if he was suffocating. He struggled to get air. Obviously, something pulmonary related and we ordered several tests including X-rays, CTs, you name it. THe doctor found nodules in his lungs... and prior to coming to the ER, he had suffered from kidney cancer and actually had one of his kidneys removed.
The cancer had spread to his lungs...

- On the other end of the table, we have this lady that kept complaining about pain and frequently visits the hospital. She refused to take the Norco... she wanted something else for her pain... (GAH we get so many of these, some people just need to lay off the drugs!) We were trying to discharge her because there was nothing the ER could do for her besides give her Norco but my doctor refused to give her even more pain medicine to feed her addictive thirst. She has a history of MS, multiple sclerosis (a disease involving the loss of the myelin sheath in your nerves). She complained she was having an MS attack and couldn't walk. She refused to leave the ED. She said "what am I suppose to do after I get out of a car, crawl to the house on my elbows?" then she started wiggling her elbows and I was just laughing so much in my head. omgoodness lady! get a grip! Anyways, such a difficult patient, we had to get someone from GI (cuz she was complaining about abdominal pain) to come and tell her specifically there was nothing we could do for her. Gah... so how in the world did she get to the hospital if she was having an MS attack?... she drove. yeah. she drove. but can't drive home...
ADDICTS. nothing is wrong with you! go home. there are really really nice ppl dying of cancer. why would anyone want to stay in the hospital? it can be a sad/depressing place.

TWO MOST INTERESTING PATIENTS TODAY
- Schizo guy who stole his mom's car to drive to the ER,who frequently visits btw, came out of his bedroom today drooling and refusing to leave the ED when we found nothing wrong with him. He just keeps complaining that he can't breath when everything else shows he is fine.

-blind lady since birth. came in for suicidal fixation. it was a sad case. she had her right eye removed and she was like, "you want me to take it out?" while she was reaching inside her eye.
man i kinda wanted her to take it out but the doctor was like, "NO!! no..that's not necessary"

~sigh. everyone left this weekend. I want to go to the valley and be with everyone mourning for the loss of a friend, Victor Baca. It's been a depressing week. Unfortunately, I can't go and I'm leaving to california tmw...just one more day. I'm alone again... in this home... but like my Dad always says whenever I tell him I'm alone, "don't worry, you have a friend. 'brother Jess'"

Dangerous People

During my one and only daily meal, I decided to watch the movie "breach" which is a true story about Robert Hanssen, who is a former FBI agent who spied for Soviet and Russian intelligence services against the United States for more than 20 years.

His activities have been described as "possibly the worst intelligence disaster in US history". He was basically selling U.S. and ally secrets to the Soviet Union and made $1.4 million in cash and diamonds. The movie is so interesting! Although he is portrayed as a devout Catholic that went to 6:30 am daily mass, he also had weird sexual practices. Unbeknownst his wife, he would secretly film them having sex and send them to his friend. His same friend would also come sneak into their bedroom window and Hanssen would allow him to watch his wife and himself have sex. WEIRD! He was also a frequent visitor to stripclubs. How the FBI handled the case is very interesting. The movie breach is about a Mole in the FBI, Robert Hanssen, and about how an FBI Operative, Eric O'Neil plays a significant role in capturing Hanssen as a spy by working as his "assistant". He is played by Ryan Philippe and Chris Cooper plays Robert Hanssen. Many people know Robert hanssen to be a genius... his superiors describe him to be "Diabolically Brilliant." I recommend. I really enjoy watching movies with organized crime.

Speaking of which, this led me to look up ADX Florence, a supermax security prison in Colorado. It's basically known as the Alcatraz of the Rockies... I was looking up all the notorious people in this prison... and Robert Hanssen is locked up in here. They only get 1 hour out of their 23 hours of solitary confinement to go roam around in another room by themselves to work out. Besides that, they are stuck in a room all by themselves the whole day...23 hours!!

**For example, the Unabomber is also imprisoned in ADX florence. His life is so interesting too. He was basically considered a child prodigy. He was a professor at Berkeley at age 25! So early..he already had his PhD in mathematics before that and became a professor immediately. so smart. Beware of extremely smart and strange people. Today I didn't have to come in to school because I completed all my final tests (and grades) before finals week
except for one student who decided not to come that day and didn't appear for test day last week. SOOOOO....
I told him that I don't have to come in this Wednesday but I will for you so you can take your test.
What happens?
WEll it's seven eight freakin eleven am! and he's not here...and I woke up at 7:30 for what?

I'm not getting
paid to do this...
So I talk to the principal about what to do and we call him on his cell phone.
this is how the conversation goes

student: Hello
teacher: hello, hi _______. This is Ms. Ramos. Where are you?
student: I'm at home..
teacher: You were suppose to take a physics test today. why aren't you here?
student: I'm going to be there at 8:30.
teacher: on your schedule, it says 8:00 am is when tests start. why aren't you here?
student: because we don't have a physics final today. i don't have to take a test.
teacher: You still have not taken the last physics test and I told you we would be doing it today.
You still have a test to take or else you cannot graduate.
student: no.
teacher: What do you mean NO?! YOu will not graduate. I will give you an F if you do not take your test.
AND I WILL FAIL YOU!
student: Oh okay. awww.. okay. I'll be there.

I was furious! don't talk back to your teacher and tell her that you are not going to take a test and that she
doesn't have the right to fail you. I can give you the lowest lowest grade if I have to (why because ur grade is inflated by curve and extra credit and I'll take that all away and you'll have an FFFFFFFFFFFF). I mean seriously,
I'd fail you right now but gah why do i feel guilty if I don't let him take his test so I HAVE to do it because I want him to succeed and succeed earning it.

I had a very interesting conversation with the ER doctor I scribed for today. In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the Emergency Department, Dr. P stressed two important points to me:

Dr. P: MEN ARE VERY SIMPLE...and they are after only ONE THING.
Me:
Dr. P: Now I'm going to go home to my wife... and sometimes I don't get that one thing.

In addition to being lectured upon about the male sex, I was also introduced to the lifestyle of a doctor. I told him that I don't know if I'll ever be rich and he told me that I will...cuz all doctors are or basically can be. Dr. P told me about his elaborate family vacations he takes with his orthopedic surgeon friends to the Cayman islands... and how he wants to go again but this time in a private jet.

Will my life ever be like that? I can't believe I haven't thought that lavishly about how life would be like if I was a doctor. I guess it's because I can't really dream of those things until I really get there... my brain won't let me. They are things I hope to do but I can't even seriously imagine me swimming in tubs of money... I guess cuz to me, it's not really like that. I listened to a sermon today about how to live your life to the fullest. For sometime now, I have been conjuring up the ultimate bucket list.. I have two, (1) for when i turn 30, because that itself is a symbolic death for me (2) for when I actually die. But I have been so obsessed with my bucket list that sometimes I forget that living your life to the fullest isn't necessarily experiencing every single thing ranging from events like riding a horse to climbing mt. fuji. I forgot that the main focus of life is the impact you make upon others and that's usually by some type of service...
I still have big dreams for my future but I still have to keep in mind that everyday God gives us an opportunity to impact someone's life in a positive way...whether it is by a warm greeting like "hello, how are you?" to even bigger gestures like cooking for your unappreciative whiney physics class ....;P

Speaking of which, I don't think my physics class hates me anymore. I took them to six flags and we had lots of fun. I got to know them more.

one of my goals:

I'm trying not to reveal too much of my true character to them or else they'll realize how I'm not that much different and that I'm actually incredibly weird or that i'm just super super cool. I think I do this so that they can still distinguish me as a teacher and not one of them cuz if they know i like the same things they do, they'll identify me as one of them. bleh...i have broken character several times already during class and even six flags.. for example:

**MY SLIP UPS**

1.) one of my students was trying to make a sly joke and said something like "TIMMMMMAAAYYYY" and I was like "what? no not like the timmy from southpark"
their response, "WHAT?! You watch southpark?!"
mistake!!!

2.) while we were eating at waterburger (ew) together during six flags lunchtime, the boys were discussing airsoft and my student was trying to tell me about his gun and i said something like, "oh so what gun do you have? an M16? "
ooohhh noooooooooo.... they musn't know i like weapons but i dnt even know that much about guns.. it's just from what airsoft and counterstrike taught me but what are they going ot be thinking now?!.

3.) At six flags one of my students was talking about anime and I asked, "what kind of anime do you watch? bleach? naruto? samurai champloo? samurai x?" ohhh you and your sister like final fantasy... and so I kept talking about anime and about how there is a Final Fantasy Live Music performance in dallas in June and ooof... I think I just came off too geeky.

4.) we were talking about anime in the van... and one of my students was like "you like to dress up don't you?" (refering to cosplay) and i kept quiet cuz i was too shocked to reply..

OH NOOOO!!!! they know TOOOO MUCH.

Everyone needs to stop freaking out about the Swine Flu

Such a busy day in the Emergency Department today. We almost ran out of the "Cough" T-sheets. Apparently, everyone and their mom thinks they have swine flu and has to be reassured they don't. Most likely, they don't. Plus, even if they do have swine flu, it's unlikely you will die... most people don't die from the flu. However, there are people that die from the regular flu every year... so why isn't it such a big deal like it is now? Errr... well, I remember Dr. Piotrowski trying to explain to me how Avian Flu is different from Swine Flu... and that unlike Avian Flu, Swine Flu can be transferred between human to human.

Despite the unlikelihood of people having the Swine Flu, we still have to test them for it. and DUNDUNDUN... what a surprise... negative results for all my patients today. Each patient who did show cough or any Upper Respiratory problems had to wear masks in the ER. There was a mexican family that didn't speak any english that came with their sick kids. In my head I was like, "omg... it's patient zero" and I didn't breath the whole time we were examining him. hahaha. I just kept putting anti-bacterial onto my hands everywhere I went. Basically, all my patients were Cough. There were only a few that were interesting. One woman came rushing in with her child after she said she left a bottle of Tryptophan out and when she left the room and came back to see some of the pills were missing and her infant child was by it with the bottle open. She thought the child ingested it and was in distress. You could tell she thought she was a bad mom to let it happen. When we saw her, the child was alert and seemed pretty normal so the kid is probably ok since the drug is suppose to make you crash. which reminds me... it's so funny writing the LABs of patients and seeing their tetrahydrocannabinol levels high...
smoking weeed before coming to the ED. nice. i miss afroman. i think he is performing in austin this weekend.

Hahaha there was a patient that reminded me of me. He didn't get enough sleep... started having hallucinations.. and when our Doctor examined him... he was seeing Ants crawling out of the sink. That was pretty awesome.

One of the doctors I worked with today was trying to make me laugh but I couldn't seem to muster out energy to laugh... and when he asked me why.. I told him I had no soul.

There is one doctor at work that cusses soooooooooo much. "What the F*ck?" "He's a F*cking asshole" and its usually in casual conversation. lol lol Such an angry pakistani.
